Our Investors

Berkeley Energy is an investment manager founded in 2007 to invest private equity into renewable energy infrastructure in developing markets. It manages:

Renewable Energy Asia Fund (REAF): The Renewable Energy Asia Fund (REAF) invests into small hydro, wind, geothermal, solar, landfill gas and biomass projects in Asian developing markets, with a primary focus to date in India and the Philippines.

Africa Renewable Energy Fund (AREF): The Africa Renewable Energy Fund (AREF) invests into small hydro, wind, geothermal, solar, stranded gas and biomass projects across Sub-Saharan Africa, excluding South Africa.

Berkeley Energy has deep renewable energy and power engineering, construction and investment experience in developing markets, where it is a focused investor, developer and deliverer of renewable power assets. Berkeley works with its partner companies to provide engineering, management and financial support, whilst offering the ability to act as a bankable sponsor for renewable power projects.

Once built, Berkeley Energy matures and consolidates its assets regionally or by technology into operating portfolios which it would seek to exit.

Our approach is hands-on, asset-first, technically orientated. We look to receive our returns through holding equity in well-conceived and constructed projects and not through development fees, consultancy or asset-flipping.

Berkeley Energy has offices in London, Singapore, Mauritius, Delhi and Nairobi and a presence in Manila.

Our Objectives

We are confident that new business opportunities, apart from the Conventional Long Terms PPA’s based on preferential Feed In Tariff’s approved by the State Regulatory Commissions, such as direct sale of electricity to industrial users, Trading of Renewable Energy Credits, and direct trading of Green Power on Indian Energy & Power Exchanges, will broaden the income streams of the company and enhance profitability.

  • To be amongst the Top Independent Wind power producer by the year March 2019 by tapping the wind potential available in India.
  • Develop a renewable energy project portfolio of 650 MW in India, oriented to provide access of clean energy and support sustainable development.
  • To engage with the local community and stakeholders
  • Provide fair value for the environmental attributes of wind energy.
